Virtual Online Meeting!
Remember when the Akron Beacon Journal ran the story that Akron had the highest eviction rate in the state, and was in the top 25 nationally? Did you know that similar headlines have been running in the media in cities all over the country? How is that possible? Is there really an "eviction crisis?"
And have you heard that "housing is a right?" "Tenants shouldn't be 'thrown out into the street' just because they can't pay the rent?" Why do we keep hearing ideas like this?
Because supporters of these ideas are not being answered by housing providers. And if we don't answer, this is all the public and our legislators will hear. Next thing you know, this idea will be codified into law. Unless housing providers speak up. You've worked hard, delayed gratification, and poured your life savings into your rental properties. Will you let special interests, the media, and our legislators give your property rights away to those who haven't earned them?Roger Valdez, writer for Forbes magazine, director of Seattle for Growth and founder of the Center for Housing Economics, has been exposing these skewed statistics and speaking out in support of housing providers and property rights for years, and is getting ready to teach us how we can combat dishonest and biased stories in the media and start changing the narrative about housing providers and how they work with their residents.Roger's course, "Small Real Estate Investor Media and Communication," will be held from 7-9 pm eastern, Feb 9th, 16th,and 23rd. ACREIA is paying the registration of up to 12 members who would like to become better, more effective advocates for property rights and safe, affordable housing.
